FAA issues guidance on Vertiports

Writer: Stratus Business DevelopmentStratus Business Development

It is still early days for VTOL aircraft development but there can be no doubt that it is now becoming a significant part of the aviation landscape.

Yes, of course, the concept of VTOL is not new. Only in the last couple of years the pace of innovation and product development has accelerated along with growing acceptance on the user/operator end of the equation. In other words, there is a real product being sold to real end users. On the 21st the FAA issued Engineering Brief No. 105 as "interim guidance for the design of vertiports for aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities." A good start with some substance that will undoubtedly guide early development of dedicated VTOL landing facilities or Vertiports.
